Introduction
I always wanted to work in a good private bank. When I got a chance to apply for the HDFC Bank Personal Banker – Sales role, I took it seriously. This blog is all about my real experience — from the online test to the interview, and how I prepared for each step.
About the Role: Personal Banker – Sales
This job is in the Retail Branch Banking (RBB) team. It is a field sales job where you meet customers and help them with banking products.
Key Responsibilities:
Open savings and current accounts for new customers
Sell products like:
Loans (Personal, Home, Auto)
Insurance (Life, Health, Mutual Funds)
Credit Cards and Demat accounts
Help with KYC and smooth onboarding
Guide customers on using net banking / mobile apps
Meet monthly sales targets
You must be good at talking to people and solving problems.
Test & Assessment Experience (My Real Test Details)
The test was taken online through SHL + AMCAT platforms. There were 5 main sections:
1. Situational Judgment Test (SJT)
12 questions, 20 minutes
Scenarios were given
You had to pick the Best and Worst action
Focused on sales ethics, honesty, and customer care
Example:
If you're late to a meeting → Best: Call the client and offer to reschedule or do a phone call
2. Personality Test
24 statements, 8 minutes
Agree/Disagree type
Be consistent and honest
3. Information Gathering & Synthesis
12 questions, 15 minutes
Based on tables, charts, small cases
You need to find correct conclusions
4. Video Interview
5 recorded questions
1 minute to answer each
You get 30 seconds to prepare

My Final Takeaway
The HDFC Personal Banker – Sales role is a great opportunity for fresh graduates.
